How the 2022 Mazda CX-5 differs from the 2021 Mazda CX-5

The 2022 Mazda CX-5 has received a host of big and small changes in order to stay fresh both visually and under the skin, something that will make it even more appealing to buyers of compact crossover vehicles.

Changes you can see

The 2022 Mazda CX-5 presents a new handsome appearance that is both elegant and sporty, a combination that help it fit in with the other recent models from Mazda which have all adopted a more premium look than their competitors. To achieve this, the CX-5 didn’t need huge changes, but a new grille treatment, new headlamps and taillamps and new wheel designs all contribute to the new style. Inside, the story is similar, with the major elements of the cabin staying the same and smaller details being tweaked to provide a better feel and a more expensive appearance. Notably, the front seats are of a totally new design that is more comfortable than the seats used in the previous model of the CX-5. In keeping with this move towards a premium product, the top-of-the line Grand Touring Reserve version was replaced by the 2.5 Turbo version, which is recognisable due to its black accents on the outside and its touches of red in the interior.

Changes you can feel

The 2022 Mazda CX-5 doesn’t just give the appearance of a more expensive vehicle that it is because it has the road manners to back it up. Indeed, many modifications have taken place to ensure the experience is more pleasant for drivers and passengers, such as the addition of Mazda’s i-Activ AWD system to the standard equipment of every CX-5, a move that helps both the winter driving capabilities and the dry-weather handling. In addition, refinements of the suspension and the transmission provide a better ride that is devoid of excessive noise and vibrations, while being more comfortable and enjoyable to drive.
