2020 Mazda CX-30 vs. 2020 Nissan Kicks

The new Mazda CX-30 introduces itself in the 2020 model year with refreshing capabilities that are shaking up the subcompact SUV market. With some of the best power and interior volume found in any subcompact, the CX-30 is earning owners across Canada each day. However, it is also important to compare the CX-30 to some of the best competition so you can make the right purchasing decision. Here, we place the 2020 Nissan Kicks in a head-to-head comparison with the CX-30.

The CX-30 boasts larger exterior dimensions that improve stability, interior volume, appeal and more. The overall length of 4,395 mm includes a wheelbase of 2,652 mm and a height of 1,568. The Kicks has respective measurements of 4,295, 2,620, and 1,586 mm. The Kicks’ increased height pushes up the center of gravity, which makes tight corners more stressful and less stable on the frame.

Power that is the envy of larger vehicles in the 2020 Mazda CX-30

The CX-30 model line includes two engine options. The GX has a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine that generates 155 hp and 150 lb-ft of torque. It pairs with either FWD or AWD systems. The GS and GT models receive a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine that creates 186 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque. The Nissan Kicks isn’t so lucky. Its FWD-only four-cylinder engine only reaches 122 hp with 114 lb-ft of torque.

Every CX-30 has either standard or optional AWD. That’s important to offer with the extreme road conditions Canada offers. You will not find AWD as a choice in the Nissan Kicks lineup, limiting its capabilities in all-weather driving. Mazda’s i-Activ AWD continually optimizes the CX-30’s performance. When you blend this technology with its horsepower and torque, you will have a peace of mind on many road surfaces.

There is plenty of room for your lifestyle in the 2020 Mazda CX-30

Space is at a premium in subcompact vehicles. The new CX-30 provides 1,280 litres of cargo capacity behind the front row, surpassing the Kick’s capacity by 265 litres. That’s plenty of room for sporting equipment, camping gear, or even moving to a new place.  When the rear seats are up, the CX-30 offers more front and rear shoulder room than the Kicks. Your passengers will appreciate it, too.
