2021 Mazda CX-30 vs. 2021 Hyundai Venue: The CX-30 Delivers More

When it is time for a compact crossover, but you want versatility, advanced tech, agility, and the right powertrain, the 2021 Mazda CX-30 is here. New for the model year is a 2.5-litre turbocharged engine with a horsepower and torque boost that will maximize your driving experiences. The CX-30 also features the available i-Activ AWD system that enhances performance during ideal road conditions and adds a layer of safety when conditions change.

Here, we discover more about the 2021 Mazda CX-30 by comparing it to the 2021 Hyundai Venue.

The 2021 Mazda CX-30 excels in performance

The CX-30 offers three powertrains that offer a range of choices for your needs. The CX-30 GX features a 2.0-litre four-cylinder that generates 155 horsepower and 150 lb-ft of torque. The GS and GT models include a standard 2.5-litre four-cylinder that extends horsepower to 186 and torque to 186 lb-ft.

New for 2021, the CX-30 GT includes a 2.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder that generates as much as 250 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque.

The Hyundai Venue includes one powertrain. A 1.6-litre, four-cylinder engine produces 121 horsepower and 113 lb-ft of torque. This output is much lower than any of the CX-30's powertrains. It is not only disadvantaged by its power limitations; the Venue is also only offered in a front-wheel drive configuration, making it much less capable of performing in our climate.

The CX-30 also has a six-speed automatic transmission with manual drive mode and a drive selection switch. Most Venue models include a less dynamic continuously variable transmission (CVT).

Overall, the CX-30 offers the best powertrains and output.

The 2021 Mazda CX-30 features more versatility and safety

The CX-30 isn't all performance. It also features more cargo volume capacity with 1,280 litres behind the front seats, noticeably exceeding the Venue's same configuration by 380 litres. Combine this available space with the 60/40 rear split-folding seatback and you have great versatility.

The CX-30 also includes safety features such as Advanced Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross Traffic Alert in all models. You’ll also have better access to infotainment system features thanks to the standard 8.8-inch screen standard on all CX-30 models. The Venue offers a smaller, 8-inch unit with fewer functionalities.
