The 2019 Mazda CX-3

The pleasure of driving is not often associated with SUVs, especially those accessible to everyone. Mazda’s philosophy continues to be about driving where every effort put forth has a direct impact on the experience.

It begins with the CX-3’s Kodo “Soul of Motion” design. This small SUV, unlike any other in its segment, is purposely styled with sleek and strong proportions – the CX-3 is art in motion. These unusual efforts for an affordable vehicle demonstrate Mazda’s intent on providing its valued customers with a premium-looking product.

Stepping aboard the Mazda CX-3 is further proof that the Japanese carmaker is serious about styling, content and the art of driving. The elegant and driver-focused cockpit serves the driver while the occupants are cared for with comfortable seats and plenty of convenience features provided by the standard 7-inch screen that includes Mazda Connect, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

As stated, the Mazda CX-3, any Mazda product for that matter, is about the driving experience. In order to deliver on the promise of exhilarating handling and performance, the CX-3 can be equipped with Mazda’s available i‑Activ AWD system and Skyactiv-Vehicle Dynamics with G-Vectoring Control (GVC). This AWD system preloads the rear wheels for instant responsiveness in the event of a loss of traction. GVC, the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada’s (AJAC) award for Best New Innovation Technology 2017, enhances the sense of control and confidence no matter the road surface’s condition.

Getting the Mazda CX-3 underway is a frugal and energetic 148-horsepower 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine. Driven by the front wheels with a manual transmission or by all four wheels with a 6-speed automatic transmission, the CX-3 is extremely frugal and energy efficient. Fuel consumption will average as little as little as 6.9L/100km on the highway.

This is good news as you will undoubtedly want to get behind the wheel of the CX-3 very often. The small SUV’s chassis dynamics are impressively well honed, providing extremely balanced handling and an equally cosseting ride when desired.

The Mazda CX-3 is compact only in its size. The driving experience, value and design tell the tale of a far more expensive and premium vehicle.
