The 2022 Mazda CX-5 gets a range of improvements

The Mazda CX-5 is Mazda’s most popular vehicle and one of the best-selling compact sport utility vehicles in the country. And now, it has just been significantly improved. The 2022 Mazda CX-5 delivers more value, better performance, and significant changes to the design that make it more noticeable and more upscale.

The 2022 Mazda CX-5’s new exterior style is an evolution of the current CX-5’s KODO visual language. Mazda designers set out to create a more upscale, premium look for the CX-5, modifying the headlights and taillights with distinctive LED signatures, transforming the grille with a new three-dimensional textured look, and giving the body panels a purer, sleeker look.

These changes complement the improvements made inside the CX-5 a few months ago, namely the addition of a new 10.25-inch infotainment display. The Mazda CX-5 GT, meanwhile, gets new Nappa leather seats and woodgrain, features usually reserved for luxury vehicles. The GT can also be equipped with a Sport Appearance package that gives the high-end CX-5 a sportier appearance.

Other changes to the 2022 Mazda CX-5 include new seats that form to the occupant’s shape for a more enjoyable ride.

The 2022 Mazda CX-5 also gets significant dynamic improvements in the form of a more rigid body, new drive modes controlled through the Mazda MI-Drive drive selector, better dampening, reduced road noise, and the addition of standard i-ACTIV all-wheel drive.

The latter, one of the most advanced systems in the segment, continuously monitors wheel spin, grip, accelerations, and overall stability to power the wheels that need it. In doing so, i-ACTIV gives the CX-5 and the driver better stability and confidence in any weather. The 2022 CX-5 becomes one of the few SUVs to offer standard all-wheel drive in its segment.

The 2022 Mazda CX-5 also gets an improved six-speed automatic gearbox providing better shifts and smoother performance.
