The Official Launch of the 2025 Mazda CX-70

Mazda has now unveiled the brand-new 2025 CX-70, a new SUV that will join its lineup as an alternative for buyers who like the look, comfort and performance of the CX-90 but don’t need a vehicle that can transport up to 8 passengers. Thanks to its premium appearance, powertrain and equipment, the CX-70 also bridges the gap between the mass-market and luxury segments better than most of its competitors. Here is a closer look at this new model:

A shorter CX-90

Essentially, the 2025 Mazda CX-70 is a shorter CX-90 that does away with the third-row seat. This means that the new CX-70 benefits from the same modern and sophisticated design as the largest model in the brand’s lineup, including its dynamic stance and long hood that recall the proportions of much more expensive performance SUVs. To distinguish itself from its larger sibling, the CX-70 adopts a sportier and more aggressive personality that is reflected in the unique wheel designs, blacked-out exterior accents, red leather upholstery and exclusive grey metallic accents that replace the chrome, light leather, and wood found in some versions of the CX-90.

Powerful and efficient powertrains

The 2025 Mazda CX-70 also benefits from the newest engines in the Mazda family, the same that were recently introduced in the CX-90. This means that the standard CX-70 will be powered by the new 3.3L turbocharged inline-six-cylinder engine, which benefits from a 48-volt mild-hybrid system to produce more power while using less fuel. We don’t know the final specifications for the CX-70 yet, but in the CX-90, this engine is available in two power levels: 280 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque as well as 340 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque.

In addition, the 2025 Mazda CX-70 will also be available with a plug-in hybrid drivetrain that combines a 2.5L Skyactiv four-cylinder engine with an electric motor and a 17,8-kWh battery. Again, we don’t have the details for the CX-70, but the larger CX-90 PHEV delivers 323 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque, along with an electric range of 42 kilometres. As the CX-70 is smaller and lighter than this model, we expect it to offer a longer electric range.

All of the latest technologies

Of course, the 2025 Mazda CX-70 benefits from all of the latest advancements in terms of onboard technologies from Mazda. Some of these features include Amazon Alexa, a first for any Mazda SUV. This technology allows the driver to keep their attention on the road by making it possible to control many functions using only their voice. Another example is the new Unresponsive Driver Support system which works in conjunction with the available Cruising and Traffic Support semi-autonomous driving technology by slowly and safely bringing the vehicle to a stop if the driver fails to respond, such as during a medical emergency, for example. The CX-70 also offers a new Trailer Hitch View feature that allows the driver to attach a trailer on their own by using the rear-view camera.

The full specifications as well as the pricing of the 2025 Mazda CX-70 will be released shortly, and we will keep you up to date with the latest information!
