Why now is the right time to start thinking about winter tires

We’re still closer to summer than the official start of winter, but it’s still a good time to start thinking about winter tires for your Mazda vehicle. At Regina Mazda, we will be able to help you find the right set of tires for your Mazda car or SUV based on your needs and budget, and we can install those tires on site and even store your unused tires.

Here’s why now is the right time to drop in and talk with our tire experts.

The weather is unpredictable

Summer tires lose their effectiveness when the weather drops below 7 degrees. The thread hardens and the tires start bouncing off the surface of the road, limiting their ability to grip the pavement when cornering or braking.

The weather in Canada averages 2 degrees starting in November, and the weather in October averages under 10 degrees. That means that we will be seeing more and more cold mornings and evenings in the next few weeks which is when you are normally driving to and from work.

Having a proper set of winter tires before the weather starts to cool means that you won’t wear your summer tires down, and you will always have the best traction regardless of the weather outside.

Possible supply issues are looming

Another reason why you might want to consider winter tires now is that the pandemic has affected the global supply of tires. We don’t want to scare anyone and we have more than enough winter tires right now, but there is a possibility that there will be supply issues as we move towards winter. It’s therefore a good idea to avoid any potential problems and get our winter tires on sooner rather than later.
